The Pone Wars 1.5: Steeplechase

And this tells you everything you need to know about Edelweiss.

One of the early inspirations for Edelweiss (although not a lot remains by now) was Shirai Kuroko from To Aru Majutsu no Index/To Aru Kagaku no Railgun.  Originally I had written a lengthy and complicated rivalry between her and Skywishes for Flurry Heart's attention, which got largely axed once I realized that I'd have to leave most of the Anakin/Padme storyline out of this rendition, but I left the irrational jealousy part in.  (The fact that Skywishes is 60 years old while Edelweiss is 19, and Flurry Heart is over a thousand years older than both of them, made it kind of awkward anyway).

Meanwhile, Stagelight has a great many skills that a filly of her age probably shouldn't, for reasons that I'm not going to go into just yet

While prepping Skywishes' poses for this page I forgot that her cutie marks aren't symmetrical, so I had to go back later and fix them.  I just now am realizing that I've forgotten to have Edelweiss wear her safety glasses when firing her cannon in subsequent pages, but I'm not really inclined to go and fix that anymore since she's far more reckless than Maple Leaf and probably wouldn't be taking these precautions anyway.  I'll just explain it as these being her 'falling-out-of-tall-buildings-and-not-wanting-to-get-bugs-in-her-eyes' goggles
