Description
I really, really don't like drawing ships, so some of these are reused. But the nice thing about Count Dooku's solar sailer is that when you color it blue, the sail kind of looks like Rarity's cutie mark Serendipity is wonderful sometimes.
I touched a little on the causes of the Pone Wars in the previous comic, in the tensions between Core and Rim pegasi during the Bitspin race, and Rarity's mention of anti-pegasus riots. Of course, it's always more complicated than that. Ponies have known for centuries that Cloudsdale's baronies are corrupt, but they knew that while Princess Celestia was the ultimate court of appeal, they couldn't get away with anything too heinous. Now, they're not sure anymore. The issue of Rainbow Dash adds more fuel to the fire, since both Cloudsdale and the pegasi of the Rim consider her to be 'theirs', and the Rim pegasi are none too pleased about Cloudsdale throwing her under a bus to save their bottom line. Because the worst of the anti-Cloudsdale riots are perpetrated by Rim pegasi, the view that the other tribes have of pegasi in general degrades significantly during this time.
There's also a generational conflict between the oldest ponies who remember Celestia's rule with fondness, those born in the chaotic years immediately after her loss who are far less idealistic than their parents, and the cynical youngest generation who have never known anything but the slow collapse of civilization. It is to the latter group that the background ponies of this storyline belong, once we finally meet them.

That's interesting that the worst riots are perpetrated by Rim pegasi; I do remember you saying that during this time the primary sufferers were pegasi everywhere other than Cloudsdale. Against whom do Rim pegasi even mis-direct their anger?
