Star Mares 3.4.19: Opening Gambit

It occurs to me that Maple Leaf gets a disproportionate number of Crowning Moments of Awesome.

Originally this scene took four pages and included a bit of banter with Maple Leaf about being inside the galaxy's biggest party cannon, but it felt a bit draggy (and would kind of undercut Jade's weakness of completely underestimating her).  I suppose if I ever do a sequel, she'll have to find some way to come back and try to settle the score.

As I mentioned before, Jade was originally designed before the changelings changed, but this part was written afterwards.  I decided that rather than take the time to redo her first appearance (and change the lines in 3.1 about swiss cheese legs) she would just be disguised as an unchangedling - which then necessitated a bunch of extra lore about different changeling hives and how even the changedlings are poorly understood by the rest of the galaxy.  So now the 'original' changelings are the Nightsisters of Dapplemir (although they have a different queen now, just in case Chrysalis gets a redemption story of her own in the show).
