Star Mares 3.4.30-31: Like a Racehorse

This is the oldest one, written right before I actually started scripting 1.4.  Like most of my ideas for this comic, I came up with the title, and the terrible joke, while emptying the dishwasher of a morning (this is also how we got the names of Gracenote, Maple Leaf, Wind Whistler, Dark Feather, the Nightmare Moon, and the Huntress, among other things).

These pages are a layered application of my theme: as you know, the intent behind my plot is that the POV characters don't save the day directly, but they make it so that the film characters can save the day.  Here, we have the background ponies enabling the film characters to enable the Mane Six to save the day.  I decided to do it this way because I always thought it was silly that Obi-wan told Vader that being killed would make him more powerful than Vader could possibly imagine, and then proceeded to do nothing constructive for the rest of the series.
